2017 Job Outlook
Are safety pros looking to change jobs?
Many occupational safety and health professionals believe their jobs are stable, and – in the short term, at least – they plan to stay put, according to the results of the 2017 Safety+Health Job Outlook survey.
A combined 91 percent of survey respondents consider their job “very” or “relatively” stable. Eighty percent said they have no plans to change jobs in the next 12 months, while 40 percent hope to be working somewhere else within the next five years.
What would keep safety pros at their current jobs longer? Not surprisingly, “better pay” was a common response, with calls for growth opportunities and leadership commitment and support also popular.
When asked their opinion of the current job market, respondents’ views ran the gamut, from “wide and vast” to “spotty” to “terrible.”
