J. Travis Greer, Milliken & Company

J. Travis Greer is the development manager for the Workwear Fabrics Business at Milliken & Company, his employer for the past 18 years. Since 2000, Travis has been an instrumental part of the Milliken Research Corp., where he has used his experience in mechanical, thermal and chemical processes to develop a variety of performance fabrics – specifically those for protective markets. Most recently, Travis has led or been part of the teams that developed a successful line of flame-resistant fabrics called Milliken Amplitude™ FR Fabrics. In 2008, he was a featured speaker at the Clemson University Medical Materials and Technologies Conference, and served as a principal investigator for a clinical trial sponsored by the government’s Telemedicine and Advanced Technologies Research Center. As a member of ASTM International, Travis is an active participant of the F23 Personal Protective and Equipment Subcommittee. Over the past several years, he has been a presenter at numerous safety and health conferences and meetings in the United States, Canada, Brazil and China. He has authored or co-authored 14 U.S. patents and patents pending – most focused on mechanical processes or chemical finishes for the improvement of protective fabrics. Travis graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University – with an emphasis in Thermodynamics and Environmental Engineering.

James Cliver, Milliken & Company

James Cliver is the FR Technologist for Milliken & Company’s Workwear Fabrics Business. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Textile Chemistry from Clemson University, James began his career at Milliken as a Dyeing & Finishing Process Engineer in manufacturing. He spent several years developing innovative dyeing and finishing technologies as part of the Milliken Apparel Fabrics’ New Concept Team before moving to his current position. James is a member of NFPA, IEEE, AATCC and ASTM, where he serves on the F18 subcommittee. Additionally, James has authored or co-authored multiple U.S. patents and patents pending.
