HELP Committee approves Heather MacDougall as OSHRC member
Washington – The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee has approved Heather MacDougall as the third and final member of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
The nomination now moves to the full Senate, where a confirmation vote had not yet been scheduled at press time.
MacDougall, who has labor and employer law experience in both the private and public sectors, was nominated for the OSHRC post by President Barack Obama on Nov. 21.
OSHRC is an independent agency that hears disputes between employers and OSHA regarding citations. Administrative law judges first rule on cases, which can later be appealed to the three agency commissioners. OSHRC has not had its full complement of commissioners since April 2011.
