VA releases ‘Concussion Coach’ app to help vets assess, cope
Washington – A new mobile app from the Department of Veterans Affairs is designed to help users evaluate concussion symptoms and provides ways to cope with concussion-related issues.
Concussion Coach is aimed at veterans, service members and others who have had a mild to moderate concussion. It includes a customizable tool that provides feedback on symptoms, relaxation exercises, educational materials, a tool to build resilience, and resources for crisis and health care support.
VA stressed in a Sept. 18 bulletin that the app is not intended to replace professional medical treatment.
VA’s Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Services, the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and the Department of Defense’s National Center for Telehealth and Technology developed the app. It is available at no cost through the Apple store.
