OSHA redesigns ‘It’s the Law’ poster
Washington – OSHA has updated its Job Safety and Health – It’s the Law! poster intended to educate workers about their rights and employers about their obligations for a safe workplace.
The redesigned, free poster reminds workers about their right to report an occupational injury or illness, receive information and training about workplace hazards, ask for an OSHA inspection at their workplace, and avoid retaliation for pointing out safety concerns to their employer or to OSHA.
The poster also explains employers’ responsibilities for a safe work environment along with their newer obligations, including reporting every workplace death and hospitalization, amputation and loss of an eye, as well as training all employees in a language the workers understand.
Employers are expected to display the poster so it is visible to all workers. It can be downloaded online or ordered by calling (800) 321-6742, and also is available in Spanish, Chinese, Polish, Korean, Nepali and Portuguese. A state version of the poster may be available in states that have an OSHA-approved plan.
Older versions of the poster do not have to be replaced, OSHA stated in an April 29 press release. The poster was previously revised in 2007.
