Nova Scotia, industry group release safety toolkit for small businesses
Liverpool, Nova Scotia – Small to medium-sized employers have a new online resource to help them create a safer workplace.
The Small Business Safety Toolkit, released May 3, provides a step-by-step guide to help employers identify hazards and develop a safety plan, according to a press release from the Fisheries Safety Association of Nova Scotia. FSANS created the toolkit in partnership with the provincial government and other stakeholder groups.
“We understand that small-business owners are busy and need accessible, easy-to-understand resources to help them protect their employees and make their workplaces safe,” Nova Scotia Labour and Advanced Education Minister Kelly Regan said in the press release. “The toolkit provides small businesses with what they need to create and implement their own safety policies and practices.”
The toolkit was developed as part of Nova Scotia’s Workplace Safety Strategy, an initiative aimed at making province worksites safer.
