SafetySkills Empower: Outcome-based EHS management
The environmental, health and safety field has evolved beyond incident response. In truth, EHS management requires identifying potential issues and creating solutions for the inevitable workplace incident.
Many within the safety industry are aware of EHS management software options, and how expensive and prohibitive these large platforms can be. The options are also difficult to maintain because, typically, each tool is beneficial but acts as a separate piece.
After more than 35 years of providing engaging and effective safety training content around the world, we wanted to offer a suite of integrated tools for holistic safety management. And thus, SafetySkills Empower was born.
Safety training
Conducting employee training is among the most important things an organization can do. With hundreds of online training platforms available, there are many features you should compare, such as engaging content, cross-device functionality, language options and multiple EHS management tools.
At SafetySkills, we are trusted for our engaging and effective training, and the Empower LMS will continue streamlining the training process. Empower includes the entire SafetySkills catalog of 800-plus courses, all indexed within the Empower ecosystem, tying training to job hazards and closing the training loop.
Toolbox talk sessions
Although there are numerous benefits of toolbox talks, a major one is keeping safety a regular focus. When safety is presented on a regular basis instead of simply for annual requirements, safe habits are formed, making a lasting impact on an organization’s safety record.
Many safety training platforms offer “toolbox talk” guides. However, because these are generic, they don’t cover a wide range of topics. With Empower, you have more than 800 training courses that cover hundreds of safety hazards. Each session can be displayed on any device and includes quiz questions, testing understanding of the material and offering key discussion points.
Job Hazard Analysis
OSHA makes it clear employers must “provide a workplace free from serious recognized hazards.” Conducting a Job Hazard Analysis helps you identify your most hazardous jobs, what those hazards entail, and ways to reduce or eliminate the likelihood of incidents or injuries.
Empower’s preloaded hazards can be added to job steps. Controls, including training courses, can be assigned to solve for those hazards. Over time, Empower’s formulaic artificial intelligence will suggest applicable controls identified by other Empower users with those same hazards. Each completed JHA lets you create a dynamic JHA briefing, addressing your team’s needs based on actual, identified hazards.
