Whistleblower Protection Program: OSHA to host virtual meeting

Washington — OSHA has scheduled a virtual public meeting to hear comments and suggestions on issues related to the agency’s Whistleblower Protection Program.

According to an agency press release, the meeting is slated for 1 p.m. Eastern on May 18 and will take place online and via telephone. OSHA is particularly interesting in feedback regarding:

  • How can it deliver better whistleblower customer service?
  • What kind of assistance can it provide to help explain whistleblower laws to employees and employers?
  • What can it do to ensure that health care workers are protected from retaliation for raising concerns related to COVID-19?

The deadline to register is May 11.

In case I’m not allowed the opportunity to give my feedback, I would like to say that giving a multi-billion dollar company the opportunity to appeal and request a de novo trial, which is what happened in my case, removes the possibility for a jury to hear about the 2-year investigation into my case by OSHA, which was approved by the DOL. The jury was only able to hear about 10% of what OSHA discovered, while the company was allowed to destroy my character on the stand with personal traumas that had nothing to do with my case. Despite my eventual “victory”, the company never posted our rights under OSHA, and I could not find a competent lawyer to force them to comply with the order. In short, being a whistleblower is a thankless, horrible ordeal, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, despite knowing that I was, and am, in the right.
