Supporting the future of safety: NSC announces scholarship recipients

Orlando, FL — The National Safety Council, along with multiple sponsors, recognized 16 college students with seven different scholarship awards Tuesday at the National Awards Ceremony during the 2024 NSC Safety Congress & Expo

Two recipients were awarded the Diversity in Safety Scholarship, an annual $5,000 award – for up to four years – funded by the Schneider Foundation: 

  • Luis Maldonado, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
  • Chase Payne, University of Central Oklahoma

Chemours funded an additional five Diversity in Safety Scholarships. The recipients:

  • Kennedy Anglin, North Carolina A&T State University
  • Jasmine Engel, Florida A&M University
  • Taylor Lambert, Spelman College
  • Kenzie Moore, Spelman College
  • Marcus Rayner, North Carolina A&T State University

The Chemours funding includes a $5,000 annual academic scholarship for up to four years, as well as free registration and an annual travel stipend to attend the NSC Safety Congress & Expo for freshmen who are attending or students entering historically Black colleges and universities and Hispanic-serving institutions.

Jacobs provided funding for two Diversity in Safety Scholarship recipients: Alexandria Kimble from Delaware State University and Lydia Wong from the University of Maryland.

Amaya Fisher and Lillian Johnson from North Carolina A&T State University, Asia Blanton from Murray State University, and Naila Sudan of Delaware State University earned Diversity in Safety Scholarships funded by Amentum.

Emma Conkey of Keene State College received the Women in Safety Scholarship, a $5,000 award renewable for up to four years. 

Olivia Rozenberg of Millersville University received the Lorraine Pack Memorial Scholarship, presented annually to female students seeking a career in environmental, health and safety, or related fields. She received a $2,000 tuition award and the opportunity to attend for free the NSC Congress & Expo or the annual Future of EHS Conference. 

The Congress & Expo Scholarship was presented to Utah State University’s Wes Christensen, who received a travel grant to attend this year’s event at no cost.
