Industry Spotlight: Truck transportation

A subsector of the transportation and warehousing industry, truck transportation covers the transportation of cargo using trucks and tractor trailers. Approximately 1.3 million people worked in truck transportation in 2011, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nearly 70,000 recordable injuries were reported that year at a rate of 4.9 per 100 full-time workers. The rate for cases involving days away from work, job restriction or transfer was 3.2.
