AED manufacturer issues recall reminder
Washington – HeartSine Technologies Ltd., a manufacturer of automated external defibrillators, on Sept. 13 issued a reminder of a recall for some devices that may not function properly during an emergency.
Originally issued in September 2012, HeartSine’s voluntary global recall notice includes Samaritan 300/300P public access defibrillators manufactured between August 2004 and December 2010. Some of the devices have been found to intermittently turn on and off, which could deplete the battery. Additionally, the software in some devices may turn the device off after misinterpreting a temporary drop in battery voltage as a low battery.
Potentially affected devices have the following serial numbers:
- 0400000501 to 0700032917
- 08A00035000 to 10A00070753
- 10C00200000 to 10C00210106
Users with potentially affected devices should contact HeartSine for replacement parts and instructions on updating software.
