OSHA schedules meeting on recordkeeping rule
Washington – OSHA is scheduled to host a stakeholder meeting Jan. 9 in Washington on its proposed rule regarding the public release of employee injury and illness data.
The rule would require many employers to electronically submit, on a quarterly basis, data from their annual OSHA Form 300A – data they already are required to keep. This data would then be made public to, as OSHA asserts, help encourage employers to reduce hazards by benchmarking against each other. It also would help OSHA better direct its enforcement and compliance assistance efforts.
To attend the meeting as a speaker or observer, stakeholders must submit a request by Dec. 13.
