OSHA to host webchat on proposed silica rule
Washington – OSHA has scheduled a webchat for Jan. 14 on the agency’s proposed rule on respirable silica.
From 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern, webchat participants will be able to ask OSHA staff questions about the proposed rule’s potential costs and benefits, OSHA’s underlying analysis of the health risks in the proposal, and how stakeholders can participate in the regulatory process.
Published Sept. 12, the proposed rule aims to reduce silica-related diseases among workers by lowering the existing permissible exposure limit for silica. Written comments and testimony on the proposed rule are due Jan. 27.
