NIOSH outlines Health Hazard Evaluation Program
Washington – A new NIOSH publication describes how the agency’s Health Hazard Evaluation Program works with employers to investigate possible dangers in the workplace. The HHE Program is a free service offered by NIOSH and does not involve enforcement activities.
As explained in the publication, employers who request assistance from the program will receive a phone consultation or a visit to the workplace during which HHE Program investigators may observe processes, conduct exposure or medical testing, or speak with managers and employees. Afterward, investigators provide the employer with a report that includes recommendations to reduce or eliminate hazards.
The reports also are made available to the public.
