BSEE to form independent safety institute
Washington – The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement is establishing an independent research institute and looking for candidates to manage it.
The Ocean Energy Safety Institute will provide the opportunity for collaborative research and shared learning among academia, government, industry and other non-government organizations, according to a BSEE press release. Research will focus on offshore-related technologies and activities to help ensure safe operations with limited environmental impact.
The deadline for candidates interested in managing the institute is July 29.
Formation of the institute comes from a recommendation of the Ocean Energy Safety Advisory Committee, which was chartered following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster.
