USFA reports on emergency vehicle safety efforts
Emmitsburg, MD – The U.S. Fire Administration recently issued a report summarizing its research on emergency vehicle and roadway operations safety.
Emergency Vehicle Safety Initiative includes statistics on firefighter and law enforcement injuries and fatalities, case studies, and recommendations intended to help prevent emergency vehicle crashes and improve response and roadway scene safety.
Vehicle incidents were the top cause of death for law enforcement officers in 11 of the past 12 years, and firefighters are more likely to die in a motor vehicle incident than while fighting a fire, according to USFA.
