CSB: Preliminary findings on West, TX, explosion slated for release next week
Washington – The Chemical Safety Board has scheduled a public meeting on April 22 to present preliminary findings from its investigation of the April 2013 explosion at a fertilizer plant in West, TX.
Fourteen people were killed and more than 250 were injured during the fire and explosion at the West Fertilizer Co./Adair Grain facility on April 17, 2013.
The explosion prompted President Barack Obama to issue an executive order directing several agencies – including OSHA – to examine whether various rules related to hazardous chemicals should be updated. OSHA is exploring the possibility of updating its Process Safety Management Standard.
