Coast Guard seeks members for commercial fishing safety committee
Washington – The U.S. Coast Guard is accepting applications for seven openings on its 18-member Commercial Fishing Safety Advisory Committee.
The committee meets at least once a year and includes representatives from the commercial fishing industry, general public, equipment manufacturers and vessel owners. Terms last three years, and members can serve for more than one term.
The group provides advice and makes recommendations to the Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security regarding the safe operation of commercial fishing vessels. Some of the committee’s recommendations have dealt with safety equipment, procedures, training, marine insurance, vessel design and vessel maintenance.
