Maritime advisory committee to meet in Florida in September
Washington – OSHA’s Maritime Advisory Committee for Occupational Safety and Health and its workgroups are scheduled to meet Sept. 1-2 in Tampa, FL.
Both the Longshoring and Shipyard workgroups are slated to meet Sept. 1. Agenda items include competent person programs, fire and rescue services, baggage handling in cruise terminal operations, mechanic safety, and the translation of OSHA guidance documents into Spanish.
The following day, the full committee is scheduled to meet and receive presentations on OSHA 10- and 30-hour maritime outreach training, an OSHA field report on maritime activities in the Port of Tampa, presentations from local maritime safety professionals, and reports from the Longshoring and Shipyard workgroups.
The meetings are open to the public. Requests to speak at the full committee hearing are due Aug. 10.
