Melanie Prescott “Ms. Prescott piloted the restructuring of the District’s medical surveillance program to ensure worker exposure to health hazards is properly assessed, results documented, and effective controls implemented. Prior to this arduous undertaking, medical surveillance comprised mostly paper surveys in which workers responded to questions as the means for establishing baseline exposure monitoring. Within a six-month period, Melanie personally conducted medical monitoring for over 300 employees whose job tasks or work environments exposed them, or were likely to expose them, to harmful conditions. Findings were populated into a database for tracking to ensure baseline, annual, and closeout health assessments accurately reflected conditions occurring at work.” |
