Behind-the-scenes tours of Turner Field, CNN and Georgia Dome

Retired Atlanta Braves slugger Chipper Jones once called Turner Field his workplace. So did Hall of Fame pitchers Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz.

On Wednesday morning, the stadium belonged to a team of safety professionals.

The “Behind the Scenes: Safety at Turner Field Tour” included a 90-minute journey of the stadium’s dugout, broadcast booth, press box, Braves suite and other areas. The tour wrapped up with a discussion about how safety and security is maintained at the facility.

Other events Wednesday included the “Inside CNN Protocol Tour,” in which visitors received a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the cable television news giant. Guests on the CNN tour visited the main studios and control rooms of CNN, CNN International and CNN en Espanol.

Nearby, the Georgia Dome tour allowed guests to enjoy an up-close view into the home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. The first part of the tour included an overview of the press box, suites, locker room, field and other areas. The tour’s second and final component included a stop at the facility’s operations center and a general overview of the dome’s public safety measures.
