2016 Rising Stars of Safety: Taking safety to a new level
The National Safety Council presents the Rising Stars of Safety, Class of 2016
Chris Brown
Age 30
Safety & Health Leader
Leaf River Cellulose Mill
Georgia-Pacific LLC
New Augusta, MS
“Chris demonstrates his value for safety by effectively sharing newfound knowledge from events and learnings that occur at his site. For example, Chris provided a knowledge share that depicted an opportunity that was identified during a VPP review regarding guarding on pumps. Chris detailed these efforts to identify approximately 250 pumps whose guarding could be improved, including the effort to design a more effective guarding technique, and to secure the funding necessary to phase in this project. Chris initiated that knowledge share and by doing so, influenced the other mills to also pursue improvement projects of that nature.”
