New app from NSC, University of Iowa offers virtual tour of vehicle safety systems
The National Safety Council and the University of Iowa have teamed to develop a first-of-its-kind virtual reality mobile app, designed to provide users with a 360-degree tour of advanced vehicle safety systems.
“CarTech VR360” details six vehicle safety features:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Automatic emergency braking
- Blind spot monitoring
- Back-up camera
- Drowsiness alert
- Lane departure warning
“This might be one of the few cell phone apps that help people be safer drivers,” NSC President and CEO Deborah A.P. Hersman said in a press release. “Virtual reality is more engaging than any owner’s manual; we hope that people use the technology to discover all of the advanced driver assistance systems their vehicles have to offer.”
CarTech VR360 is free to download for both Apple and Android operating systems.
