2017 Rising Stars of Safety: 'Eliminating preventable deaths'
The National Safety Council presents the Rising Stars of Safety, Class of 2017
Alisha Adams
28
Field Safety Representative
Flatiron Construction
Morrisville, NC
“Alisha was instrumental in the development and implementation of our ‘STEP BACK’ program. This is an initiative to better engage our workers to take a moment to ‘step back’ and review their task before continuing. It also assists our field foremen who get caught up with the work and sometimes do not see what their crew is doing. We encourage our foremen to ‘step back’ every 10 minutes. With that in mind, we have six opportunities per hour, 48 opportunities per shift to identify risk activities. This, in part, has led to an overall reduction in both our safety incidents and quality incidents.”
