2017 Rising Stars of Safety: 'Eliminating preventable deaths'
The National Safety Council presents the Rising Stars of Safety, Class of 2017
Travis Parker
30
Safety Director
Lee Mechanical Contractors Inc.
Park Hills, MO
“As Travis travels to jobsites across the country, he talks with the management and employees. He observes and praises good safety behaviors and practices, and then spreads them throughout the company as he meets with people at other jobsites. Frequently those discussions lead to a shift in the company’s safety practices and behavior. A specific example is the incorporation of the JSA into the daily routine for every job. At one jobsite, a written JSA was a requirement of the customer. A JSA was developed that was more than just a checklist that was easily pencil whipped. Travis looked at the ‘best practice’ type of JSA and through perseverance got it implemented at all jobsites.”
