‘A safe and comfortable event’: NSC Congress & Expo goes virtual
Itasca, IL — Amid concerns about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the National Safety Council Congress & Expo – the world’s largest annual event for environmental, health and safety professionals – will be a virtual event hosted in March, the organization announced Aug. 21.
The NSC Congress & Expo originally was scheduled for October in Indianapolis. It was then rescheduled and moved to March 2021 in Houston. The rescheduled dates will be announced in the coming weeks, NSC states in a press release.
“Our stakeholders all expect an excellent experience and most important, they expect to be safe,” NSC President and CEO Lorraine M. Martin said in the release. “By moving our Congress & Expo fully online to a virtual platform, we can both ensure a safe and comfortable event for everyone while continuing to deliver the world-class safety event everyone looks forward to each year. We look forward to returning to in-person events as soon as it is safe to do so.”
The NSC Congress & Expo has been held annually since 1912; 2020 will mark only the second time that the organization has not hosted an in-person Congress & Expo. The event was postponed in 1945 as the country recovered from World War II.
