Washington L&I launches Spanish version of teen worker safety app
Tumwater, WA — The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries has released a Spanish language version of its SafeMe Essentials app for young workers.
The free app includes safety lessons, videos and hazard identification tailored to retail, restaurants and other industries that regularly employ young people.
The app includes a dozen short training courses – ranging from four to 10 minutes – on topics such as workplace violence, fire safety, proper lifting, ladder safety, utility and box knives, and material handling.
According to Washington L&I, the app is intended to supplement training provided by employers – a legal requirement in the state.
A Spanish version of SafeMe’s Automotive app also has been released. Both apps are available for download on Apple and Android devices.
