Itasca, IL — The National Child Passenger Safety Board, managed by the National Safety Council, recently announced the appointment of three new board members:

  • Scott Downing is a fire captain from Eagle Point, OR. He’ll serve as the public safety fire/EMS representative until May 2024.
  • Beth Warren takes over the role of certifying body representative, a permanent board position reaffirmed every three years.
  • Justin Young, a master deputy and D.A.R.E. officer with the Spotsylvania County (VA) Sheriff’s Office, is the new public safety law enforcement representative. He’ll serve in this role until May 2024.

Since the late 1990s, the National CPS Board has developed and maintained a curriculum used to train certified child passenger safety technicians. Today, 34,000 technicians provide education and assist families with car seat installations at check-up locations across the country.
