“When construction on the Deep Tunnel Storm Water Project started, Fahed set the goal to deliver the project without a lost-time injury. He required frequent audits by the supervision consultant and support for the safety team. The project went through four Middle East summer periods without heat-related injuries. New measures to gauge the humidity and temperature above ground in comparison to deep confined spaces were initiated to keep the workers safe. Chilled ventilations were introduced in deep confined spaces, and all workers’ health was monitored frequently.”
