Safe + Sound Week to emphasize emergency preparedness and response
Washington — The eighth annual Safe + Sound Week, a national initiative aimed at promoting awareness and understanding of workplace safety and health programs, is set for Aug. 11-17.
OSHA, NIOSH and a coalition of safety organizations – including the National Safety Council – team up for the event, which this year will place special emphasis on emergency preparedness and response.
OSHA offers resources to help start an organizational safety program, revive an existing one or provide opportunities to recognize safety successes. The agency says the benefits of workplace safety and health programs include:
- Prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses
- Improved compliance with laws and regulations
- Engaged workers
- Enhanced social responsibility goals
OSHA encourages stakeholders to stay tuned for more information. Registration for previous Safe + Sound Week events has opened in July.
