Tukwila, WA — The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries has scheduled two stakeholder meetings on its forthcoming requirements on tower crane permits and safety.
The meetings are set for 1 p.m. Pacific on March 24 at the Washington L&I headquarters in Tukwila and 10 a.m. Pacific on April 1 at the Enduris Training Center in Spokane.
Legislation signed into law in March 2024 directs Washington L&I to “establish, by rule, a permit for the performance of any work involving the operation, assembly, disassembly or reconfiguration of a tower crane.”
The rule is expected to cover, among other topics:
- Permit requirements related to tower cranes
- Permit application and safety conference
- Permit denials, suspensions and revocations
- Requirements of prime contractors
- Other housekeeping changes
Along with gathering feedback to “assist with scoping the preliminary draft version of the rule,” Washington L&I is accepting written comments. To provide written comments, email Cindy Ireland.
