MSHA publishes new guide for miners’ reps
Arlington, VA – The Mine Safety and Health Administration on Sept. 25 issued a new guide for miners’ representatives.
The guide supplements the 2011 guide to miners’ rights and responsibilities and addresses topics such as reporting hazardous conditions and imminent dangers, incident investigations, discrimination against miners, and health and safety training, according to an MSHA press release.
MSHA defines a miners’ representative as a person or group charged with representing the interest of two or more miners. Duties may include traveling with federal inspectors, filing hazard complaints and being involved with legal procedures.
