USPS agrees to settle with OSHA over electrical violations.

Local Emphasis Program in Hawaii, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa focuses on automobile lift operations.

Notable proposed fines

$120,000 to a Texas meatpacking plant for allegedly failing to protect workers from hazards such as chlorine and sodium hydroxide releases

$66,000 to an Ohio waste and recycling company for violations that include exposing workers to metal hazards

$64,680 to an Illinois scrap metal recycling center for allegedly failing to conduct required inspections on energy control procedures

The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs – part of the White House’s Office of Management and Budget – reviews proposed regulations. The process is required for most rules before they can move forward, and typically takes 90 days.
