This webinar will provide an overview of the 2023 edition of NFPA 70B: Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance. Topics to be discussed include why NFPA 70B was transitioned to a standard from a recommended practice; the relationship between OSHA and 70B; the structure and layout of the document; and a detailed overview of Chapter 9, which addresses determining maintenance intervals in the absence of manufacturer recommendations. Before joining e-Hazard in 2021, Derek was with the National Fire Protection Association for six years as a senior electrical specialist, an electrical technical lead and a senior electrical content specialist. He was a subject matter expert for the development of the entire suite of training on the 2020 National Electrical Code and was the technical reviewer for the 2017 NEC and 2018 NFPA 70E training products from NFPA. Derek writes a regular column in IAEI Magazine and the NFPA Journal and is a regular contributor to other periodicals, including EC&M, Electrical Contractor, and IEC's Insights. He’s the primary author of the 21st edition of the Electrical Wiring: Residential textbook from Cengage Learning.
