Ergodyne’s Hi-Vis Apparel 101 and ANSI/ISEA Standard Update webinar will cover how hi-vis apparel functions, and detail specific updates to the ANSI/ISEA 107-2015 Standard. Hi-vis apparel provides conspicuity for the worker during both daytime and nighttime usage in an effort to prevent struck-by accidents on the jobsite. We will go over why struck-by accidents are on the rise and how workers can prevent them.
First published in 1999, the American National Standard for High-Visibility Safety Apparel and Accessories (ANSI/ISEA 107) is widely recognized as the best practice/industry standard for worker conspicuity to reduce struck-by risks. Now on its fourth iteration, the most recent update from the 2010 to 2015 version contains some significant changes. In the webinar, we will first focus on what remained consistent with the previous revision, including performance requirements for materials, the three basic parts that go into a compliant garment and the rules and regulations that go along with performance class designations.
We will then focus on what has changed. The 2015 version of the standard merges the ANSI/ISEA 107 Standard for High-Visibility Apparel and Accessories with the ANSI/ISEA 207 Standard for Public Safety Vests. Garment types have been added that will help workers choose the proper garment to wear based on expected usage and anticipated work activities. In response to end user feedback regarding smaller sizing for smaller workers, the updated standard also adds a “smallest size exception.” New balanced design requirements, new performance requirements for reflective material, and labeling updates have all been noted in the updated standard.
