Washington – OSHA has awarded a total of $10.5 million to 77 organizations for safety and health training programs.

Atlanta – In an effort to improve motor vehicle safety among the workforce, the CDC Foundation offers resources for both workers and employers in the most recent issue of "Business Pulse."

Washington – The Department of Labor is encouraging action during Labor Rights Week, an effort to raise awareness of worker and employer rights and responsibilities under U.S. labor laws. The event runs from Aug. 29 through Sept. 4.

Washington – NIOSH is scheduled to host an online-only meeting to gather input from the public regarding the effectiveness of the agency’s Center for Motor Vehicle Safety, as well as ideas for the center’s future.

Several industry groups have filed a legal challenge to block OSHA’s recently released recordkeeping rule requiring certain employers to electronically submit on an annual basis worker injury and illness information, which will then be made publicly available. Among their concerns are the rule’s anti-retaliation provisions.

Although the Zika virus has been in the news for much of 2016, many questions remain about the different ways it can be transmitted. On July 20, the National Safety Council, together with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and NIOSH, attempted to answer those questions.
