Sharlie Staab
Age 28
Safety Specialist
Texas Instruments
Richardson, TX

“Sharlie is leading an initiative to strengthen sites' LOTO program and identify gaps by getting employees involved in cross audits and developing simplistic LOTO programs. Tasks are reported by the employees to the ESH team, and the team assesses, risk ranks, and drives solutions to completion. To solicit the tasks, a unique approach was instituted where typical questions were altered to discourage the ‘I am strong enough to handle it’ response. Questions such as ‘what is the heaviest thing I have to lift?’ or ‘what is the most awkward position I have to lift in?’ were used to solicit responses from employees. Over 100 risks have been reduced.”
