2017 Rising Stars of Safety: 'Eliminating preventable deaths'
The National Safety Council presents the Rising Stars of Safety, Class of 2017
Mahmood Khamis
36
SHE Coordinator
Aluminium Bahrain
Askar, Bahrain
“Mahmood was assigned to handle the organization’s contractor workers’ health and safety issues after a visible decline in their health and safety performance. He studied the contractor workers’ injury trends and visited the workplaces. He initiated the contractor’s monthly meeting, where all contractor management are invited to communicate the organization’s health and safety strategy and urge the contractors to adopt the same. He opened a new communication channel via emails to alert the contractor management about health and safety issues. The outcome of this initiative was outstanding and was labeled as one of the best improvements that the organization attained in term of contractors’ safety management arena.”
