2017 Rising Stars of Safety: 'Eliminating preventable deaths'
The National Safety Council presents the Rising Stars of Safety, Class of 2017
Meghan Shambach
26
Regional EH&S Manager
Harsco Industrial
East Stroudsburg, PA
“Meghan’s safety philosophy involves off-site employees having the same safety processes and procedures as on-site employees. The Field Technician Dispatch Process enables off-site employees to understand where the emergency exits and escape routes are in case of fire and dispatch checklist to enable proper lifting assembly tools to prevent manual handling injuries. In addition, off-site employees are provided mobile gas detectors/carbon monoxide detectors to alert them if the room has been compromised prior to entering and during the repair process. Since its implementation, field service employees have gone five years without a lost-time incident.”
