NSC postpones 2020 Congress & Expo
Itasca, IL — Citing safety concerns about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the National Safety Council has rescheduled its annual conference for March 28-30.
In addition, the site of the 2020 NSC Congress & Expo – initially slated to take place Oct. 5-7 in Indianapolis – is moving to the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, where the council hosted its flagship event in 2018. The rescheduled event will include virtual components to help further mitigate the risk of transmitting the disease.
“Our stakeholders have all come to expect an excellent experience at Congress & Expo each year,” NSC CEO and President Lorraine M. Martin said in a June 19 press release. “We are committed to delivering on that expectation while ensuring that everyone is safe. We look forward to returning to Houston in March and having another inspiring, informative conference that helps advance safety, from the workplace to anyplace.”
The 2021 NSC Congress & Expo is still planned for Oct. 11-13 in Orlando, FL.
The postponement is only the second in the event’s 107-year history; the first occurred in 1945 as the country was recovering from World War II and travel restrictions remained in place.
