Health, Safety and Environmental Leader – Mining
Cummins Inc.
Fort McMurray, Alberta
“Miranda led an ergonomics improvement project at the Cummins Fort McMurray mining operations. She collaborated with site leadership and frontline field technicians to develop a tool that reduces ergonomic strain for technicians who must remove the cylinder heads from a Cummins QSK78 engine during repairs. The team designed a prototype, obtained engineering approval and manufactured a tool that would help the technician affix the tool to a lifting device to enable the cylinder head to be safely removed from the engine. The result was a 74% improvement in the ergonomic risk score for staff during this routine task.”
