Rising Stars of Safety, Class of 2021
Megan Kaup
Age: 24
EHS Manager
Valmont Industries
Columbus, NE
“When Megan came on board, one of the most demanding areas for growth was finding ways to encourage employee engagement with safety initiatives and regulations. Megan researched what most encouraged the employees to engage and own their own safety. From this, she created the Safety Buck Program, which helps incentivize and encourage active engagement across all employee levels. Employee engagement has grown since the rollout of this program. Before Megan’s hire, the combined total number of safety contacts incurred by her site was 21. Eight months after Megan began, this number grew to 72 contacts, representing a growth of 343%.”
