2016 Rising Stars of Safety: Taking safety to a new level
The National Safety Council presents the Rising Stars of Safety, Class of 2016
Amy Ferguson
Age 32
Safety Manager
Gulf Winds International Inc.
Houston, TX
“Amy established a baseline using gap analysis for each warehouse operation and working with some of the 300 truck drivers. She constructed a thorough risk assessment plan evaluating the hazards/controls with job hazard analysis, ranking job activities within the operation as high/medium/low, determining corrective actions to be put in place to ensure the final risk is low. Due to involvement with stevedoring agents we have integrated a cooperative safety program establishing training, monthly audits of our port facilities, and collective safety meetings with the maritime facilities and stevedores.”
