Mental health in the workplace: Washington L&I launches webpage
Tumwater, WA — A new webpage offers resources for fostering mental wellness in the workplace and supporting workers who have a diagnosed mental illness.
Created by the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries, the webpage includes information for employers, managers, supervisors and workers.
Washington L&I cites Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data that shows mental illnesses are among the most common health conditions nationwide, with more than 1 out of 5 U.S. adults living with a mental illness.
Resources on the site include:
- Videos on suicide prevention, discussing mental health at work and practicing emotional first aid
- OSHA’s mental health checklist for senior managers and Working Together to Address Workplace Stress and Mental Health tip sheet
- A toolbox talk on mental health and workplace safety
- A safety talk and video on mental health
