2016 Rising Stars of Safety: Taking safety to a new level
The National Safety Council presents the Rising Stars of Safety, Class of 2016
Bryan Netherland
Age 28
EHS Manager
Berry Plastics
Monroe, LA
“Bryan spends a great deal of time engaging employees. He focuses on driving a once reactive safety culture into one of proactivity, focusing on leading indicators. Employees are given the encouragement and knowledge to recognize potentially unsafe scenarios and the responsibility to report or correct them. More so than mandating employees change, he listens to employee ideas. Each year, he presents a survey to all employees, asking for feedback on the safety program and areas of focus going forward. This gives each employee voice in safety, helping to drive an effective and proactive program.”
